Time for something completely different

Well, here I am! Day 1 in Abu Dhabi! After a flight with a screaming toddler next to me, we arrived somewhat unrested in Abu Dhabi and got a stamp on our visa paper. We're in! P.S. Just to clarify! Many people think I live in Dubai! But that's not the case. I've moved to Abu Dhabi, one of the seven emirates. Nou, daar ben ik dan! Dag 1 in Abu Dhabi! Na een vlucht met een krijsende peuter naast me, kwamen we redelijk onuitgeslapen aan in Abu Dhabi, en kregen wij een stempel op ons visum papiertje. We zijn binnen! Ps. Even voor de duidelijkheid! Heel veel mensen denken dus dat ik in Dubai woon! Maar dat is niet zo. Ik ben verhuisd naar Abu Dhabi! Een van de zeven emiraten.  **December 28.**  While I am putting the final "finishing touches" on my beautiful little courtyard from 1723, messages, calls, cards, and door knocks keep coming in. The past few weeks have been very intense and emotional. Thanks to my dear family and friends, I was able to empty my house just in time, put all my belongings into storage with my cousin and mom, and sort everything out. It’s amazing how much "stuff" a person can accumulate... Today, I am emigrating! This evening, at 21:40, I will be boarding a plane to Abu Dhabi with my colleague and good friend Becky, where we are embarking on a new adventure. We have been recruited by the Natural History Museum of Abu Dhabi to help with its opening.   28 december. Terwijl ik de laatste "finishing touches" aan het doen ben in mijn prachtig mooie hofje uit 1723, stromen de appjes, belletjes, kaartjes en deurklopjes binnen. De afgelopen weken waren erg heftig en emotioneel. Dankzij mijn lieve familie en vrienden, heb ik precies op tijd mijn huisje leeg kunnen halen, alle spullen bij mijn nichtje en mama in de opslag kunnen doen, en alles uit kunnen mesten. Wat kan een mens veel "zooi" hebben.... Ik ga vandaag namelijk Emigreren! Vanavond om precies te zijn, om 21:40. Dan stap ik samen met mijn collega en goede vriendin Becky in het vliegtuig naar Abu Dhabi, waar wij een nieuw avontuur tegemoet gaan. Wij zijn namelijk gescout door het Natuurhistorisch Museum van Abu Dhabi, om aldaar te helpen met het openen daarvan.
